Jillian & Kris are getting married on September 30th of this year and I'm so excited for them! Jillian and Kris are such an adorable couple! I met them at Kirk Park for pictures, where there's tons of wooded trails and it's also right on Lake Michigan!Read More

Back in December, I had the pleasure of doing a winter maternity session with Chelsea and Zach who are expecting a boy in February! Despite the cold, Chelsea was glowing, like, really really glowing! I'm so happy for her and Zach as they embark on this new, crazy, exciting chapter! Chelsea wanted to meet at George George Park in Clinton Township which was a gorgeous park!Read More
At the end of October, I met up with the Lillibridge's to not only do Spencer's pictures but to do some photos and a video announcing their 3rd and final pregnancy!
At the start of the season, I got together with The Kartes Family to celebrate Graham turning one and Liv turning 3! Time has just flown by since these two have graced the earth and I cannot believe that Graham is already one. It feels like just yesterday I was meeting him for the first time and having the pleasure of documenting such a momentous day! Liv is a goofy, loving, and this very emotionally aware little person and she's such a joy to be around. I cannot wait to see what these two do over the next year and watching their personalities grow and thrive!
Michelle & Jonathan got married in DeWitt, Michigan surrounded by family and friends with a ceremony and reception outside. The location that they were fortunate enough to use for their wedding was incredible and the weather couldn't have been more perfect, either. Who doesn't love a gigantic red barn for a backdrop for a ceremony as well as a tented reception?! Their day was gorgeous, perfect, and filled with some of the most personal details imaginable.Read More
Gabe hit his 9 month mark back in December and I'm happy to report that he is still this smiley, happy, little dude!Read More
Back in August Geoff, myself and our good friend Matt Schmelling (hey Matt!) did a promo shoot for Two 9 Two Media and Andrea & Jason were our models! It worked out perfectly because they are actually engaged and were in need of some photos SO it was just a match made in heaven! I can't speak for Andrea and Jason but we had a blast photographing them and we are so so grateful that they were able and willing to do this shoot with us!
We started off in downtown Grand Rapids, which happened to be the day when food fest was going on but we managed to find some spots that were low key and quiet!
Before we dive into this, a warning... the camera LOVES Andrea. And Jason and Andrea make each other smile and laugh so much, it'll make your heart melt.
After downtown we headed to Grand Haven! With lots of great wooded trails and beautiful beaches, it was the perfect place to take the next half of the shoot! Andrea and Jason had one request for this shoot and it was to have their adorable dog, Stella featured and as dog owners ourselves, we definitely did not say no to that request! Stella is as sweet in person as she is in these photos, and she sits so well! We're jealous..
We had them work on some dancing because not only does it make for adorable photos but depending on how long it's been, it can be pretty funny. ;)
^ this photo is probably one of my favorites. The way Jason is grinning at Andrea while she looks over at the camera is just so sweet. It shows how much he truly adores her.
Last stop! The Grand Haven beach! Andrea. You are truly so stunning. I just cannot get over the photos I got of you. You glow in front of the camera! And Jason, you're a stunner. You rock serious on a whole new level that I've never seen before! ;)
To wrap it up, we handed this lovely couple a bottle of champagne to enjoy and celebrate being engaged!
^^ This is one of my other favorites. While Jason went to go grab his fiancee a blanket because it was getting chilly outside, a flock of seagulls flew behind Andrea and I honestly don't think I've grabbed my camera any faster off my hip. Worth it! :)
Andrea & Jason, thank you. Thank you for going with our crazy plans for this shoot and trekking in the woods, breaking out the heels downtown and everything else in between! We really hope you enjoyed yourselves and love what we're going to put together for you! You two are an amazing example of what love looks like and how to have fun in front of the camera together. It truly was a blast and an honor! We hope your wedding planning is going smoothly! :)

Amber & Mike got married back in December with a very small, intimate ceremony, so in August they had a big party to have their friends and family gather to celebrate! They had their reception at Mike's grandparent's house in Grandville and it was pretty awesome. They have a kickass backyard with a pool and legit bar set up! What could be more laid back and fun than that? Yeah, it was a blast but I think some of it has to be credited to their hilariously fun bridal party! Needless to say, they had a lot of fun and I had way too much fun photographing them!
Thank you Amber & Mike for letting me document a really wonderful celebration, you are surrounded by some truly wonderful friends and family and I have to say, I'm jealous! I wish you two all the best and I know the continue journey as parents and husband and wife will be nothing short of amazing!
Uncles are just naturally crazy. Kids will figure it out one day... haha
Graham Alan Kartes was welcomed into this world September 17th and he is just growing into this snuggly bundle of love! I cannot wait to do his 3 month session to just compare how much he's grown and filled out! Being able to see Graham the day he was born was such a joy, and we took the great opportunity to document that first day!
We're teaming up with Madison and Trevor to do a year long project with Graham, in the hopes to provide the service to other couples! We're SO incredibly excited about the project and we cannot wait to get to the one year so we can put everything we've documented together for them! Here's a sneak peak if you haven't seen it already of Graham's first day on this earth, surrounded by some of his aunts and uncles, Mom and Dad!
Since we're now conveniently located in Grand Rapid's we were able to fit in a newborn session with Graham as well as do Liv's 2 year photos just a week after his birth. Madison always has awesome ideas for shoots and I love it every time! She brings awesome props, shows me adorable pins she has, and gets her family's outfits perfectly coordinated. If anyone needs tips, ideas, or suggestions for shoots, talk to Madison! I personally think she should be a stylized shoot coordinator (if that exists) because she'd rock it!
For this shoot Madison wanted to go to an apple orchard and she brought along plenty of blankets, bought a bag of apples at the orchard not only for snacks for Liv but for the shoot, a wooden crate box, and an adorable chair. Madison's ideas are amazing, but I have to say she puts Trevor to work on these shoots because he's usually the one hauling all of it! haha Props to Trevor (no pun intended, seriously) for all your efforts and hauling Madison's visions that morning, we always appreciate it! :)
While Madison was getting apples and Trevor was loading up the wagon with the props, I took Liv over to the apple orchard to show her the apples and do some exploring. It worked out perfectly!
Remember when I said Madison coordinates outfits perfectly. Yeah, look at how adorable Liv's outfit is. Bow, boots, and all! So cute!
So funny little story about this photo. As soon as Madison showed up, Liv ran over to her in fear like I was the photo monster. I think she just got sick of me photographing her so much and was relieved her mom came to the rescue ;). Needless to say, these photos are completely candid and I think they are my favorite from this session because there was no posing involved and just shows how much love this peanut has for her parents and vis versa!
And this. Shortly after loving on Mom, Dad came into vision and this girl hauled her little butt as far as she could over to him. It was nothing short of adorable. Girl loves her daddy!
Livvy needed a snack break during the shoot :)
So while we were doing Mom and Dad with Graham, we let Liv just hang out in the wagon and when we were done, I turn around and this girl is just having the time of her life. This photo just cracks me up.
After the apple orchard we went back to their house to do some more newborn photos. I couldn't resist photographing Graham's room. This room goes to show how amazing Madison really is at designing and decorating! Just look how pinterest worthy this room is! So adorable. They did a sort of outdoor- hunting theme because Madison's family as well as Trevor's are big into hunting. Growing up for them both, it was always a big activity.
The little touches in this room are so personal, and I love it. The turtle shell was found by Madison's dad, the picture is of Trevor's moms' dad and the deer antlers are from Trevor's first buck!
Another one of my absolute favorite shots! Madison's hand is holding Graham's head and Trevor's hand is on Liv's shoulder. A completely candid shot and it is just is so beautiful. This photo (for me) gives so much sense of support, connect, love, and what it means to be a family.
Their oh so talented Memaw (grandma) knitted this adorable football hat and sack. He was so comfy and cozy.. for like 2 seconds before he started crying.
We got his room nice and toasty warm for this last part of the shoot, and he did not whine once for these last poses! :)
As always, thank you Trevor & Madison for a great day of photographing! Your family is growing in the most beautiful way imaginable, and I'm so excited to continue to be apart of the process! It truly is and always will be an honor.
A while back I went over to the Lillibridge house to do Gabe's 6 month photos. Gabe hung out in the grass and Spencer enjoyed some quality time with Geoff and Ryan on the play set. I didn't intend to photograph Spencer but Gabe got fussy a couple times so I went over to see what he was up to. Watching a kid discover and play with the things the earth creates is just really awesome.. and adorable. All in all we had a great session and with the help of Ryan at the end we got some heart melting smiles of of Gabe! :)
So much good stuff coming to the blog and facebook in the coming months! Our newest addition to the family, Graham will be next up along with his big sis Liv who just turned two! We did their session at an apple orchard so you definitely don't want to miss it! :) In the mean time, here is Graham's newborn video that I shot & edited!
We now offer newborn video's like the one above so if you're expecting, don't hesitate to touch base with us! We absolutely loved how this turned out and would love to do more!

Happy Monday! xox
Back in June, we had the pleasure and honor of documenting Caitlyn & Justin's big day! They had their ceremony at the Church of Our Savior in Coopersville followed by an amazing reception at the Fruitport Golf Club & Banquet. They took advantage of our services and booked us for both photography and videography, so we are so excited to showcase both!
Caitlyn & Justin,
Thank you so much for an incredible day surrounded by you two and all the people who love and support you. Your love is inspiring, adorable, and something truly unique and we couldn't be more blessed to be the ones to have documented it. I hope your video and these photographs are something that you will enjoy for years and years to come and bring you laughter on bad days, reminders when times get hard, and tears of joy when you're happiest.
Geoff & Julie
And without further adieu, their wedding video!
Madison and Trevor are expecting their second baby in October and we are all so excited to meet the new addition to their family! This time they are having a baby boy who will be joining their oh so adorable little girl, Liv!
We got together at Comstock Riverside Park for pictures and it worked out wonderfully! Geoff and I have gone for walks around this park and it is not only huge, but beautiful. There's so much space, there's cute little ponds, and it's right on the Grand River! Plenty of beautiful backgrounds for a maternity session! :)
Daddy was a huge trooper during the shoot because guess who loooved to run off on all of us and had to be flagged down? ;)
Ahhhh! Doesn't this just make your heart melt? Trevor and Madison are soooo cute!
Oh and this one too. This is hands down my favorite of the two of them. It doesn't get any more adorable than this. :)
Starring at this photo makes me wonder, where did the time go.. so naturally I had to do a comparison! She looks like such a big girl in the photo on the left, and the photo on the right is her 6 month session! Either way, she's been the cutest little thing since day 1 and it makes me so excited for her little brother to get here!
Haha, I think the realization hit Liv during this session that she will no longer be the only child...
After we finished the session, we let Liv have some fun on the playground.. and I couldn't resist capturing some of it! It was too cute and as you'll see Liv had a good time! :)
Thank you Madison, Trevor, and Liv for an evening out at Comstock Park! I always enjoy a session with you guys even if Liv's not having it! ;) I cannot wait for baby #2 even if he's suppose to arrive on our wedding day! Our only hope is that if he comes on our wedding day, he comes healthy and safely! But it would be an amazing gift if he arrived in time to be apart of the festivities! See what you can do about that, yeah? ;)
Watching for Foxes headlined the Dunesville Music Festival back in July and I had the pleasure of not only watching them perform, but also taking some photos and videos of them! They label their genre as "flannel rock" which basically explains everything about them bundled into two words. They are this awesome, hilarious, folk band located here in Grand Rapids. They are made up of some of the nicest dudes you will ever meet in your life and they have a sound that kills! (not literally, sheesh!)
Yes, I might be a little bias about them because my fiancee and my partner in crime here at Two 9 Two Media is their cellist. BUT the amount of compliments these guys receive at every gig is insane and goes to show that I'm not just saying this these things to be nice. They draw in an incredible crowd that can truly appreciate what they do and their fans take the time to let them know how supported they are. I've never seen so much reaction from a crowd and to be honest, it's not a surprise. I really suggest you head over to their facebook page, and then from there go listen to their music, here. It'll brighten your day, it'll get your head bopping and it'll probably make you want to put on your flannel. And let's be real, who doesn't love wearing flannel?
Keep your eyes peeled for the live video session from the shoot, it's going to be worth the wait! :)
Next up: Caitlyn & Justin! Have you seen their sneak peak from their wedding video? SO cute. I can't wait for Geoff to finish! Eee!
We were the oh so fortunate neighbors of the Lake Family when we lived in Chicago. They are this adorable family from Utah with this amazingly kind ora that surrounds them. And now they have this adorable little mini them who will be nothing short of all the great things that they are. It was an insane honor to be able to be their neighbors, see little Ivy the first day she came home from the hospital and the hundreds of times we ran into them in the hall letting that little bundle of love brighten our days with her oh so heart melting smiles and giggles.
Justin and Hattie, we need more of you two in this world. It's hard to put into words the impact that you have put upon us. You're selfless, caring and generous beyond necessary. Watching you guys be parents from day one was and is inspiring and I know your little Ivy will continue to grow into an amazing woman. Thank you for being the kind of neighbors that everyone in this world needs. We were so blessed to have that chance and I know we'll never find as great of neighbors as you two! Thank you thank you thank you! :)

In the beginning of April, I had the pleasure and honor of doing head shots for an incredibly talented past co worker and friend, Kiandra!
Kiandra studied acting in college and now that she's graduated with her BFA she is embarking on the ever so scary and exciting journey of doing it in the real world. Ever since she graduated, she has basically hit the ground running with it. She's incredibly active with it and is constantly auditioning and landing gigs!
I met up with her on a Saturday morning and we headed to the alley's of Lincoln Park. Initially that wasn't the game plan, but when we found all these alley's with awesome backdrops we sort of just had to go with it! It worked out perfectly and I'm so happy with how these turned out!
Kiandra, thank you, thank you! I have to say editing these photos made me incredibly self-conscious. You are GORGEOUS! I'm looking forward to seeing you on a very famous theatre poster or on the big screen, soon! You're ambitious, driven, and filled with so much faith. Don't ever stop or give up because you're going to do amazing things with every single opportunity that comes at you!
See you at the theatre! ;)
