I am finally sharing (some of, it was hard to narrow them down!) our wedding photos! Our photographer, Alicia Magnuson did an amazing job! I'm so excited to share because we couldn't have asked for a better day!
Geoff and I got married on the grounds of the Grand Traverse Commons with our reception at Kirkbride Hall in October. Traverse City holds a special place in our hearts because I grew up going there every summer with my family so it's become my favorite place to go and be. In addition to that, Geoff and I (after only dating 3 months) lived in Traverse City for a summer interning for the Traverse City Film Festival, together so when we were looking Traverse City made so much sense to us. We love it up there and we were so fortunate to find a venue that not only matched the theme we were going for, but was in our budget almost too perfectly. Jon and Meg at Kirkbride were the most accommodating event coordinators and we were so grateful for all the support, help, and constant communication that they provided for us!
Since Geoff and I are artists we went with a vintage theme centered around what we do, photography and videography. Our colors were a dark sage green with gold to represent Northern Michigan University's green and yellow. We met there while we were studying Art and Design and it was important to us that we incorporate the school into our wedding.
Instead of flowers for centerpieces we chose old camera's that we collected during the wedding planning process so each table would be named after a camera!
Not only were we hunting for camera's but we had friends and family looking for us who contributed to the pile as well without being asked! It was amazing how involved some of the people in our lives were during the planning and we were just so grateful for that!
Geoff and I kept our flowers simple and all the arrangements turned out amazing! Derek at Darling Botanical was so fun to work with! We arranged for Geoff to go into the shop on the day of our wedding and pull piece's he wanted in my bouquet. It was such a great touch and a way for Geoff to give me flowers on our wedding day.
Chicory at Style North Salon was just the most down to earth stylist and her style meshed so well with my vision. She was also so incredible for coming up to the common's to do our flower girl's hair (Afternoon nap time) right before the ceremony, too!
Geoff and I both have grandparent's that have passed away and we wanted a way to not only acknowledge the loss but to allow their presence to be there, as well. Geoff's mom, my parents, and aunt's found jewelry pieces from their mother's that I could wear. The larger bracelet is from my dad's mom, the smaller bracelet is from my mom's mom, and the turquoise ring is from Geoff's mom's mom.

Uh yep, Geoff cried! :)
Big thanks to my brother Andy and his girl Sarah for bringing Dee to our ceremony! Oh yes, we brought our fur baby!
For our bridal party, I let my bridesmaids choose their dress. I gave them a color swatch and told them as long as it's within that range of green then I'm good. Their dresses couldn't have been more perfect! It worked out so well because they wore what they felt comfortable and confident in and to me, that's so important. The groomsmen all wore suspenders, green bowties made from Etsy artist, Aendee and Geoff had a gold bowtie and a vest!
Our bridal party consisted of our very best friends and having them by our side was such a blessing. From left to right we have, Julia Convissor, collage best friend, Elizabeth Karaska, childhood best friend, Hope Thier, college best friend and Maid of Honor, Alexa Anason, childhood best friend! Best Man is Geoff's older brother, Trevor Kartes, and college best friends Dave Gleason, Ryan Gleason and Dennis Farney! They truly made our day so much fun and I don't think we could ever thank this crew enough!
Instead of our guests cling glasses to get us to kiss, we requested that they go up to the front of the head table and tell us a joke! It was incredibly entertaining and a lot of fun for our guests!
For our cake we did wedding white cake with tart cherry jam and Swiss meringue buttercream from Sweet Petites of Grand Traverse. For the mini cupcakes we did vanilla, chocolate and Light of Day Cherry Mint from Sugar Kissed! We got married in Traverse City, it only made sense to feature cherry in our desserts!
The guest book was re made into a photo album from a record album! I found this at a antique store and I thought it would be a great way to incorporate Geoff's love for music!
I always said that I wanted my first dance to be unique and I definitely got one! Geoff had "I will" a song he wrote for me back in college professionally recorded for our first dance and it was perfect. It's the song he had me listen to while he proposed and it's the song I walked down the isle to as well.
Pat Digneit from Double Trouble Dj's not only officiated our ceremony but he provided all the reception tunes to make sure we were partying hard with our friends and family all night long! T'was a huge success, thanks Pat!
